FOUR GENERATIONS DEDICATED
TO CRAFTING THE FINEST COFFEE OUR LAND PRODUCES.
On the slopes of Los Tres Picachos, the emblem of Jayuya, and in the picturesque Barrio Coabey, lies Hacienda San Pedro.
. . .
a coffee plantation whose history is deeply rooted in four generations of dedication and love for agriculture and the art of crafting the finest coffee our land produces.
Don Emeterio Atienza, a young Spaniard who arrived on our shores in the 1800s, was the pioneer of this story. His life was marked by a profound connection to the land and a passionate commitment to coffee cultivation. Although his dream of exporting coffee to Spain was cut short by his early passing, his legacy endures to this day.

His son, Alberto Atienza emerged as a key figure in the development of the farm. An agronomist by profession and a devoted lover of agriculture and animals, he assumed responsibility for the estate after Don Emeterio’s passing. His skill and commitment became essential pillars for the continuity and prosperity of the farm. Alberto not only sustained production and cultivation, but with foresight and vision, he later sold the farm to his son Roberto marking a significant milestone that ensured the continuation of the family legacy.
...
Roberto Atienza, Don Emeterio’s grandson, took the reins of the farm in 1975, leading it with mastery and preserving the family’s legacy of agricultural knowledge and dedication for over 45 years. Three decades ago, Roberto brought his vision to life by creating the Café Hacienda San Pedro brand, fulfilling his grandfather’s dream of exporting the finest coffee from Puerto Rico. Through hard work and sacrifice, Roberto elevated Café Hacienda San Pedro to international recognition, exporting to the United States, Europe, and Japan. His coffee has been praised by professional tasters in national and international barista competitions.

Rebecca Atienza, daughter of Don Roberto, established the first coffee shop located within a coffee farm in Puerto Rico ~ an experience that has delighted coffee lovers for over 16 years. In 2008, Rebecca pioneered the concept of an artisanal coffee shop with the opening of her first location on Avenida de Diego in Santurce.
Years later, in 2010, she expanded Hacienda San Pedro’s presence in the metropolitan area with a shop in the Popular Center building in Hato Rey. In 2012, coffee kiosks were installed inside LaHacienda Foods locations, a collaboration that led to the opening of five additional points of sale.
The most recent location, inaugurated in 2023 on Avenida Domenech in Hato Rey, represents yet another step in expanding the unique Hacienda San Pedro experience.

Don Emeterio’s vision lives on in every cup, and his legacy endures not only through the brand and the farm, but also through a shared, intergenerational passion for offering the finest coffee Puerto Rico has to give.
